soooo, here's how my last week or so's been. last thursday my car decided to start overheating on me. not really sure what's wrong w/ it, not sure if i really care, since even if it's reasonably cheap and easy to fix it'll still be too expensive for me right now (at least without dipping into my meager savings, which i am proud to say i am refusing to do). i've been riding my bike to work, and it's not quite the heel ride i thought it'd be. my first trip took around an hour & a 1/2, and today i got it down to about an hour & 15 minutes (it took 30 minutes in my car, and sometimes more like 45 when traffic was bad). i'm thinkin' i can get it down to an even hour over the next couple weeks. and my bod will be the baddest. i seriously am loving it, cuz even though it takes a little longer, it gives me "me" time that i don't ever get, and i tend to get kinda blissed out on a good long bike ride, as opposed to the rage that driving tends to put me in. this weekend was pretty ok. went out w/ some friends saturday night and had just the right amount to drink without bein' sloshed, crashed at my friend's jill and shawn's place. me and jill grabbed brunch at End of the Line sunday morning, went back to my house and watched Spaced. then a little later i went to Sluggo's and saw Jonathan Richman play. which was very enjoyable. drank a little too much last night and woke up slightly woozy, but the ride to work straightened that out. besides, it was worth it. critical mass earlier today! fuck yeah! something like 50-60 people showed up to show pcola how much fun bikin' around this damn town can be. and some of 'em weren't even veganpunkbikedreadlockzinehippyanarchogu ttersquatdirtyhipstertattoedactivistscar yweirdofreaks. most fun i've had in a loooong time. i hope we start doing this a lil more often. now i'm just gonna relax, listen to some YES for a minute, then watch some more of lars von trier's "kingdom" or maybe some more of "my name is earl" seas3 and go to sleep w/ a slightly overinflated sense of wellbeing. cuz i feel like i'm being well. bored. i think i'm about to go to brunch at end of the line. i'm boring. no matter what i do, or how much, i never feel like it's enough. or satisfying. or satisfactory. i'm so unsatisfying. on a better note, band practice today! excited! i'm looking for a recipe for a vegan picnic poluck kinda thing next monday, cooking for like 15 people. needs to be on the cheap ($50 or less) and would prefer to take a side as well. anybody got any suggestions? Current Music: can - soundtracks | | Friday, August 29th, 2008 | | 12:33 pm |
had a vegan pizza potluck last night. we had 4 pizzas: 1 pineapple/green onion/moonblush tomato/pesto pizza, a roasted red pepper/roasted garlic/tomato/pesto pizza, a jalapeno/marinara/don'trememberwhatelsew asinit(except the tomato stuffed crust, that was AWESOME) pizza, and jill made an artichoke/olive/tomato/and other stuff pizza. probably hosted 20 of these little dinners, never seen the food go so fast. of course, things turned into a fullblown shindig, complete w/crappy band action by drunken wannabe's and roommate drama. but hey, i saw rus rus and cristy make out. that was cute. just bored before going to bed. felt like crap the past couple days. played kickball, made an out and scored at least 1 point (maybe 2, not sure). worked today, made tacos outta leftover beans rice and tofu, friends came over and we went to MUGS AND JUGS for a couple beers that ended up being a coupla pitchers and a round of shots of something pink. came back home and had "no wave" band practice that quickly disentigrated into "1/2 decent indie rock band practice". i never get bored playing anything tho, so whatever. maybe that's why i'm always in hardcore bands w/ dudes that are way punker than me... i have scratches on my face and broken jeans and i have no idea how any of that happened. i'll never drink whiskey again (yeah right). Current Music: jonathan richman | | Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 | | 10:06 pm |
ok, just hangin' out drinkin' a tallboy of high life waiting to finish it off before i go on my little late night bike ride through the industrial complex. it's not quite as late as i want it to be (i tend to like the 12am-1am rides) but if i'm gonna watch the 2 movies i've got here tonight then i need to leave soon. i got the screener for the new errol morris doc about abu grab(sp?) today, pretty excited about that. and afterwards i'm probably gonna fall asleep watching michael powell's "thief of bagdad", which i've actually seen one other time, but proceeded to get stinking drunk while watching. now i've owned it for a while, but i'm a lazy and inattentive film lover these days. it took me something like 3 sittings to watch "o lucky man" and i've been running 'round town proclaiming that to be one of the best movies ever made lately (it is, tho). so vegan potluck dinner tommorrow. i'm making tangerine/rum soaked tofu over a black beans/rice/chipotle thing (the necronomicon was the best xmas gift i ever bought for myself, and all the locals just think i make this shit up) and an edamame/corn salad (thanks again necronomicon!). lookin' forward to serving around 15 people on about a $60 budget, an' it bein' a potluck an'all, i think a couple of 'em are actually bring something. so wow, i think this is the longest post i've made in awhile, think i'll quit while i'm ahead. please excuse any errors in spelling, i've been a pretty bad typist lately for some reason, but all errors in grammar were intentional. making a bunch of vegan omelets for a dinner party thursday. any favorite recipes/timesaving suggestions? Current Music: the stranglers | | Friday, August 1st, 2008 | | 4:16 am |
i've been in so many bike wrecks tonight, i can't count 'em. bleeding from at least 4 places... next weekend's race is gonna ruuuuuuuule! Current Music: spacemen3 | | Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 | | 6:41 pm |
BUSTIN' MAKES ME FEEL GOOOOD
just killin' some time before the sun goes down a little further and it's cool enough for me to go on a bike ride. tired of sweatin' my ass off. today i went on 2 heel drives (the ac in my car just blows heat in whether it's on or off & 2 of my windows won't roll down) & mowed a lawn, on top of the hell drive from new orleans yesterday, the hell shift at work yesterday, and the fun but hellish weekend i had (my 1st seizure!). so tonight i'm gonna ride my bike, come back in & do some body hair maintenance (get yer heads outta the gutter, i mean upper body, & i know it's gross but i've already typed it, so...) & then kill time til the show at sluggo's tonight where really the only thing i'm lookin forward to is the vegan bbq dinner & brooks & rusty's band. so yeah, bustin' makes me feel good. every hair fallen from my head, i call friendly video
pretty boring day. slept til noon. dunno what the fuck that's all about. it seems like the earlier i go to bed, the later i sleep. or if i go to bed at 4 a.m., i can only sleep to 5. anyway, long/short of it is, i got up, made some spaghetti because that's all i can afford to make right now, watched last night's rerun of snl, then went to work. work sucked. do you... enjoy... knives?
ok let's see what i've got goin' on in my little stuff-to-do/bills-to-pay book here today. need to get an extra key made for the store, need to work in my garden (that's what i'm calling the little patch of dirt in my backyard, anyway), clean bathroom & mop house. my life is so fun, but at least i've got ariel pink & king crimson to keep me company. a buddy of mine called me a couple days ago to see if i wanted to play in his new band. they're playing tonite at sluggo's so i'm gonna go check them out. they're all good people, just don't know if they're up my alley. anyways, after i pay to get in & order me a tofu dog w/ everything on it, i will be officially broke, so staying sober won't be difficult! yay! slob's got an 8 cylinder body & 2 cylinder mind
i've decided to start posting again, if for no other reason maybe seeing a somewhat public somewhat day-to-day description of my life will jumpstart something. other than a binge. it's 5:30 in the morning, can't sleep, gotta work 13 hrs today. need to clean up my house, i'm getting too old to be living in this filth. but i guess old people can be filthy too. | | Saturday, May 31st, 2008 | | 3:48 pm |
i'm soooo tired. worked 55 hrs this week, now i'm at my mom's helpin' out w/ the yard in 80 degree weather. fuck this. Current Mood: crankyCurrent Music: van halen | | Thursday, October 12th, 2006 | | 12:37 am |

...so i'm taking my work underground. i can't let it fall into the wrong hands again.
woke up a few hours ago. grass cuttin' time. i got in the mood by trying to cut my own hair for the very first time. well, it's not TECHNICALLY the 1st time, i tried once in high school, and i've taken off the odd sprig here & there, but this was the 1st time i did an only slightly below par job. then i put "here come the warm jets" in my walkman, opened up a tallboy & really went to work. "...warm jets" appears to be as good o'music for grass cuttin' as "sacrilicious sounds of the SUPERSUCKERS" is for n64-mario kart. and i was curious, is the comma optional in the last act of a 3part sentence? like, i did this, i did this, & i did this? or, i did this, i did this & i did this? i think the former is correct now, but i seem to remember a middle school teacher telling me you could do whatever you want. which is wrong, i believe. | | Sunday, September 17th, 2006 | | 11:41 am |

hello friends & midnight lovers...
how's everybody in livejournal-land? assed-out by the black man? sweet! it's 9am & i've had 3 phone calls already so i guess it's time to quit dreamin' of sleepin' & do somethin'. i got the whole day off & nothin' to do, but i'm happy happy happy. wanna know why? what's the reason for this awesome attack of the early mornin' gids, you ask? let me count the ways: 1.i ordered a drum set yesterday, and it should be here in like 2 weeks. fuckin' $300 drum set, i'm gonna be keith moon, bitches! 2.i ordered a xylophone yesterday. a $17.99 xylophone that i'm almost as excited about as my drumset. 3.i got a copy of "the tenant" yesterday. $5. along w/the tiny bit of herb i also have, i think i know how i'm gonna spend the rest of my morning. wow, i haven't posted in a while. but i got kinda sick of the last 2 posts always popping up there at the top o' the heap. i thought about deleting both of them, but i dunno, that's kind of the pussy way out. and fuck it, i'm too lazy. nothin' much going on here at planet hinds. i've been working at the vid store 40 or so hours a week. my days off i spend either practicing w/bulletproof (we totally rewrote the beer song) or recording insane little jingles ("gum w/a rock in it") & covers (creedence, everclear, faust) w/joey & eleisha. i hate to toot my own flute, but our cover of "santa monica" may be the 2nd funniest thing i've ever heard. the funniest would be "gum w/a rock in it". i almost wish we hadn't written them (or covered, in the case of the everclear song), so that i wouldn't be all "listen to my music that i recorded at home on my boss br-8 digital recording studio" guy when i play them for people. we're getting drums sometime soon or at least in the not so distant future. we can stop playing the washtub. and "the happy family traveling band" will destroy.
